Start with clean, dry, and brushed hair. 

Apply a heat protectant spray to your hair to minimize damage from the high heat of the straightener.

Plug in the hair straightener.

Depending on your hair type and the straightener's settings, adjust the temperature. Lower temperatures (around 300°F/150°C) are suitable for fine or damaged hair, while higher temperatures (up to 400°F/200°C) are better for coarse or curly hair.
